Dear 4-H Family,
February is full of important events: Black History Month, American Heart Month, Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day and President’s Day. It is important to remember and honor those who have had an impact on our Nation and to show our love and appreciation for others.
Sussex 4-H February events include: State Leader’s Forum, Public Speaking Contest, Favorite Foods, Foods Judging, and the Photography and Graphic Arts Contest. Special Meetings taking place will be Horse Bowl Training, Dairy Club, and Robotics Club.
Congratulations to our National 4-H Conference delegates: Shawn Mitchell and Jarrett Williams. These young men will travel to Washington, DC in April with other 4-H’ers from across the nation to discuss and brainstorm ways to solve a variety of issues pertaining to youth.
In February, Rebecca Arpie and Paige Vincent will represent Delaware 4-H at the National 4-H Healthy Living Summit. They will work together with other teens to learn about a variety of healthy living programs and resources and also bring new ideas back to our state 4-H program.
It is with a heavy heart that I share that Rhonda Martell passed away on January 24, 2016. She was a dedicated 4-H staff member for over 15 years, most recently working with the 4-H Military Youth Program. Anyone who knew Rhonda knows that she gave 110% to everything she did whether it was through her work or her dedication to her family. Rhonda had requested a private funeral service along with and a Celebration of Life in the coming weeks after her grandson is born. Many of you may know that Rhonda’s daughter, Kayla, is expecting her first child in early February, so this is a very emotional time for the family. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers!
A Friendly Reminder – Please be sure to submit your club news to Tammy or myself by the 25th of each month. Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your club in actions. We love to see and share what each club is doing!
Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!
Yours in 4-H,
Jill Jackson
