Club News: October 2015

Sussex 4-H Jr. Council – Jenna Anger, Reporter
Jr. Council is ready to begin 2015-2016 with a lot of new ideas, fun activities, and community service.  At the September meeting, we elected this year’s officers.  Congratulations to President Nathaniel Vincent, Vice President Colleen Anderson, Treasurer Shawn Mitchell, Assistant Treasurer Taylor Wroten, Secretary Shannon Bradley, and Reporter Jenna Anger.   We are beginning to plan a spooky haunted trail during the Pumpkin Contest and the fabulous Fall Overnighter. Don’t forget to sign-up soon, it will be a hallowing good time!  The Achievement Banquet is October 4th.  Many awards will be handed out and members will honored for their hard work.  Please plan to attend!

A big put ’em up to all of the Jr. Leaders and 4-Her’s that attended day camp “Week at the beach”.   A great time was had by all and many wonderful memories were made.  Kaleb Scott was a terrific coordinator; we were lucky to have him organize day camp this year.

All 4-H members 13 years and older are encouraged to join us for Jr. Council meetings.  They are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Carvel Building. Hope to see you all there in October!

Harbor Lights – Olivia Goehringer, Reporter

HarborLightsI want to start this report by introducing myself. My name is Olivia Goehringer and this is my sixth year in 4-H. I will be your new reporter for the Harbor Lights 4-H Club.

This year the president of our club is Elise Goehringer, our secretary is Zoe Cunningham, and our treasure is Marissa Timmons.

At our first meeting on September ninth all the members were very excited to get started with our year. We are most excited about our up-coming play that will be performed on December forth. The play is about a party where everyone is reminded that family and time together is precious. This lesson is learned in an interesting way. You are all invited to attend. More information will be coming in future reports.

Other activities
that we will be involved in are the pumpkin contest, coastal clean-up,volunteering at the Cape Henlopen Fantasy Trail, adopt a highway clean-up and a trip to New York for our older members. Wow! It will be a great fall for the Harbor Lights Club.

Jill Jackson from the 4-H office was our guest at the meeting. We appreciated her answering all of our questions. Thanks for the visit, Miss Jill.

Hollymount – Katie Kuhlman, Reporter
HollymountWelcome back fellow 4-Hers.  Hope your summer was a lot of fun.  We started our year on September 17, 2015.  The American pledge was started by Megan and the 4-H pledge was done by Sam.  At this meeting Mrs. Anderson gave us a whole year calendar of events.  We are going to be busy and have a lot of fun in the process.  Our first agenda is Coastal clean-up.  We ended the meeting with a game to meet and get to know the members in our club. Our next meeting is October 8 at 6:30 pm.
