Agent Letter – August/September 2015

Dear 4-H Family,

This summer has been filled with lots of 4-H activities and events.  Environmental Camp, two weeks of State 4-H Camp, Exchange Trip, Delaware State Fair, and Georgetown Day Camp.

In this newsletter, you will find State Fair results and county updates.  The 4-H Building at the State Fair was packed with over 10,500 exhibits!  Thank you to those who helped set up the building, were judges or judges assistants/runners, hosts/hostesses, and those who helped take down the building on Sunday.  Your hard work did not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated!  The Jr. Council put together a beautiful float and we were happy to hear how full it was each night.  Seeing the excited faces, hearing 4-H songs, and seeing everyone dressed in Hawaiian beach gear definitely pleased the onlookers.  Congratulations to everyone who entered an exhibit or competed in a Fair competition.  The State Fair is always an exciting part of the 4-H year!

With the new 4-H year starting in September, there are lots of exciting activities and events to look forward to.  Coming up in September our regular monthly meetings begin again at the 4-H office.  We also have the Archery Safety Training/Shoot, Coastal Cleanup, Dairy Club and Robotics Club Meetings.  Our county program is growing and we are excited to meet new members, leaders, and families!

Thank you to the clubs who submit a club reports each month, please keep them coming!  Be sure to submit your club news to Tammy or myself by the 25th of each month.  Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your club in actions.  We love to see and share what each club is doing!

During this busy time and throughout the year, please remember to check your email and the online newsletter regularly for news and updates.  Also, be sure to sign up for events (county and statewide) by the posted deadlines.  Thanks for your help!

Please feel free to call, email, or visit my office if you have any new ideas, suggestions, or concerns about Sussex 4-H programming.  I would also like to schedule times to visit each club at a monthly meeting.  This will help me learn more about what you are doing outside of county-wide events.  Organizational Leaders, please send your club meeting date, time, and location to me (jackson@udel.edu).  Let’s start another year focusing on what 4-H is all about, Making the Best Better!

Yours in 4-H,
Jill Jackson
