2015 Georgetown Day Camp

Another year of Sussex County 4-H Day Camp has come and gone! With the help of all of our amazing counselors and staff, this year was truly the best one I have ever seen! During our ‘Week at the Beach’, kids were able to partake in various activities. We had the opportunity to go to the Georgetown Public Library to watch a performance from a ventriloquist, were able to make ice cream with the Dairy Princess and the Alternate Dairy Princess, as well as have the MERR Institute of Lewes come to the program with a 65 ft. inflatable whale and various other marine mammal artifacts. During classes children had the opportunity to make their own Mason Jar Aquarium craft, Banana Dolphins for foods class, get down in dance class to the Cotton Eyed Joe, and played sharks and minnows during recreations class; truly some of the best class ideas I have seen in a long time! In the afternoons, campers were exposed to different counselor led activities such as a puppet show, making slime provided from the 4-H science kits, and having a water day. To end the week, groups were able to perform their Songs, Skits, and Yells at our closing assembly for all parents and guardians to watch. I would like to thank the wonderful counselors for making Day Camp run very smoothly.  Those counselors included:  Kimberlyn Scott, Shawn Mitchell, Holly Anderson, Jarrett Williams, Colleen Anderson, Rebecca Arpie, Taylor Messick, Paige Vincent, Brittany Carpenter, Meredith Carey, Alyssa Thawley, Kaleb Parsons, Caden Dickerson and Zach Adams.  I would also like to thank Jill Jackson for making this opportunity possible for me. It has been a great summer!

Yours in 4-H,
