Agent Letter: April 2015

Dear 4-H Family,

springHappy Spring!  Although the weather has had different plans, flowers and trees have started to bloom and it has been good to see some sunshine.  A few special and unique celebrations during this month include:  April Fool’s Day, Children’s Book Day, World Health Day, National Jelly Bean Day, National Volunteer Week, Easter, and Administrative Professional’s Day.

Many Sussex 4-H members took part in March Madness, 4-H style.  We are so proud of our Horse Bowl participants form the East Coast Riding Club, 4-Hoofbeats and Bridgeville Mustangs.  Two of our beginner teams placed second and third in the state competition! Way to go!  Many members participated in the Woodworking and Photography Judging Contests.  The results are posted in this newsletter.  Twenty-eight teens participated in our annual Junior Leader Weekend in Lewes.  The teens learned teambuilding and leadership skills and enjoyed a rainy but fun weekend at Cape Henlopen State Park.  A special congratulations to Dory McCormick, Cypress Heart & Hands and Alyssa Thawley, Seaford Blue Jays, who competed in the annual Beekeeping Essay Contest.  Dory won the state contest and will go on to compete in the national contest. Congrats to Holly Anderson, Hollymount, who was crowned 2015 Dairy Princess!  Sussex 4-H’ers continue to make us proud!

Thank you to the clubs who submitted a club report this month, please keep them coming!  Be sure to submit your club news to Tammy or myself by the 25th of each month.  Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your club in actions.  We love to see and share what each club is doing!

April will be busy with many events including:  National Conference, Statewide Fashion Showcase, Archery Shoot, Horticulture, Wildlife, and Photography Judging Contests and Younger Member Weekend.  Looking forward to  seeing you at the next 4-H event!

Yours in 4-H,
Jill Jackson
