National Nutrition Month: March 2015

nutrition monthEach March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrates National Nutrition Month.  This annual event emphasizes the importance of sound eating and physical activity habits.

The theme for 2015 is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle” which encourages everyone to adopt eating and physical activity plans that are focused on consuming fewer calories, making informed food choices and getting daily exercise in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease and promote overall health.

You can use MyPlate (http://www.choosemyplate.gov/) as a great resource to start your path to Healthy Living.  There are activities and print outs that would be great to incorporate into club meetings!

Be on the lookout for weekly Nutrition Tips on the Delaware 4-H Facebook page during the month of March!
