RULES
1. Fill out the entry form below and make sure you select your age group and category. Bring it with your creation!
2. Keep your creation to a 13”x13” area. Note: this is a reduction from past contests. Exceeding will result in disqualification!
3. NO pushpins, punctures or carvings are permitted in the standard category. Tacky glue is suggested.
4. Carved is a new category open to 4-H members age 16 –19 AND 4-H adult leaders. Please bring a battery candle or glow stick to showcase your carving prowess! From the classic jack o’ lantern to patterns obtained commercial kits– we can’t wait to see what you carve out! Remember to use safe practices while carving! Tis the time for BOO! but we don’t want boo boo’s!
5. Judges evaluate entries by how well they embody the theme & fit in age group. It is expected that each entry represents the handiwork of the member entrant.
6. Please do not remove your entry from display until you are given the official go ahead.
7. We encourage entrants to visit our Flickr site to get an idea of the examples submitted during past contests.
8. Please refer to newsletter article as to time for arrival, parking and other attractions at the Pumpkin Contest.
9. 4-H is all about community service! We encourage you to participate in our tradition to donate your creation to a nursing home, shelter or other location where it might be enjoyed.
Standard Categories (new) Open to ages 5-19 (4-H age as of 1/1/14)
- Creative/Artistic: Time to let your creativity flow! A place, thing or generic people, 4-H theme, or if you’re not sure exactly what it is, put it here! As long as its from your imagination!
- Animal or Creepy Crawly Any and all critters, insects, spider but non-human please!
- A Character– A recognizable name from real life, fiction, culture, history, etc. (example: Mickey Mouse, Albert Einstein)
- Scary/Spooky! If it makes you shiver or shudder this is the category!
Carved Category Open to ages 16 to adult leaders only.
- For safety reasons, this category is limited to 4-H members 16 and over AND 4-H Leaders. See rules left.
