Dear Sussex County 4-H member,
I hope this message finds each of you well, enjoying spring, and sharing in fellowship with family and close friends. I want to thank each and every one of you for the great work you all do not only in 4-H but in our greater community here in beautiful Sussex County.
One of our fastest growing programs here in Sussex is our shooting sports program. The rise in numbers over the last few years is attributed to the importance parents feel for their child learning a lifelong sport which instills a great sense of responsibility and discipline. We have been blessed to have a wonderful team of shooting sports instructors, who have taken time away from their families to teach, share and pass along their skills and knowledge.
Due to the increased popularity of the program, we have reached the point where more volunteers are needed in order to insure that the monthly shooting sessions go smoothly and safely. If you are a trained 4-H shooting sports instructor and would be willing to dedicate some time this spring to assisting our current group of instructors, please notify Tammy in the Sussex County 4-H Office at: 302-856-2585 x 544. While all of us on staff would like this program to keep growing, we are currently at capacity and will not be able to allow “walk up’s” or 4-H’ers who are not pre-registered to participate in a session.
As an added courtesy to the instructors and to the youth attending each session, I’d like to please ask parents the following:
- Have your child arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the session.
- Be able and willing to assist the instructors if asked to help during some portion of the session.
In addition, to better facilitate the order in which each child will be active in shooting, a number will be given upon registration that will be used in order to insure that all participants receive the appropriate amount of time “on the line!” My friends, we hope these adjustments and requests for this program will be helpful in making sure each child is not just able to participate but learn in a meaningful way from their instructor.
We value your feedback and look forward to the continued success and growth of our Sussex County Shooting Sports program. Our next shoot will be held on Sunday, April 7th with a training session at 1:00 pm and the regular shoot beginning promptly at 2:00 pm. Again, we ask that you please take a moment to pre-register with Tammy in the 4-H office.
Thank you for the time you have taken to read this letter as we work to make your child’s experience the best it can be as all of us strive to make the best better.
Yours in 4-H,
