4-H Breyer Horse Painting – 2012

On Tuesday, Dec, 18,  East Coast 4-H Riding Club sponsored its annual Breyer Horse Painting night.

Rita Lofland
Rita Lofland gives a brief introduction for 39 4-H attendees. Breyer Horse Painting is a popular annual event where 4-H’ers learn about horse breeds and color patters

Thirty-two 4-H’ers and 23 parents enjoyed a delicious, warm meal and fellowship with other 4-H horse lovers.  Mikayla Ockels, East Coast president, gave the welcome and encouraged members to enter upcoming 4-H events, like the Winter Fun Day and Horse Bowl.  Rita Lofland explained the technique of painting small Breyer horses, how to use hair dryers to set the colors and design face markings and leg markings on each Breyer.  Each 4-H’er painted a mare and foal with full mane and tail to take home for Christmas.  Many thanks to the Jr. Council members, Travis and Dustin Waller, Mikayla Ockels, Mary Catherine and Angela Lagano, Jackie Arpie and Whitney Records for helping with the food and for using the hair dryers. Thanks to leaders, Jodie Gravenor, Heather Records, Angela and Paul Arpie and Mary Argo for helping with registration and the food.  Watch for upcoming horse events in the near future!
