Building intercultural competency
Diversity, Inclusion, and Implicit Bias
Inclusive Language
Our language is complex, full of cultural nuances, and has consistently evolved with our ever-changing culture over time. As such, it’s important to discuss the different ways our words affect our friends, students, colleagues, and communities and how we can become more mindful of the language we choose to use with others. Can be tailored to be 60-120 minutes in length.

LGBTQ+ Resource Training (Available Fall 2021)
Our newly revamped LGBTQ+ Resource Training takes the place of our workshop formerly known as “Ally Training.” Taking a tiered approach, we now offer a two-part series of competency-building workshops related to LGBTQ+ identities which build on each other in order to help participants unpack and understand LGBTQ+ identities, related topics and best practices. *Please note that we will also still be able to work with specific organizations or units on campus to tailor-make abridged versions of this series in case a single session is required for a specific event or training opportunity.
LGBTQ+ Resource Workshop: (Part 1 of 2) Learn terminology and concepts related to LGBTQ+ identities as we discuss gender and sexual identity, heteronormativity, intersectionality of identity, and how our cultural understandings of gender and sexual identity have come into being. This session is 90 minutes in length.
LGBTQ+ Resource Workshop: (Part 2 of 2) After participants complete Part 1 of our LGBTQ+ Resource Training, we encourage you to register for Part 2 which will focus exclusively on applying what was learned in the first session to your personal and professional practice. We will explore what it means to be an effective ally through a discussion around best practices, available resources, and things you can do to offer more support for LGBTQ+ identities. Any staff, faculty, or student who completes both workshops will receive a certificate and LGBTQ+ Resource sticker denoting your completion of LGBTQ+ Resource Training. This session is 90 minutes in length.
