Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Delaware Student Health Services is to provide students with quality primary health care, educate them about healthy lifestyles, and lead students to successfully access health services and become advocates for their own wellness.
Who We Are
Student Health Services (SHS) is the primary undergraduate and graduate student healthcare unit on the University of Delaware campus. Composed of approximately 45 full-time and numerous part-time staff members, SHS provides essential in-person and telehealth medical and wellness services to students. With a focus on primary care, SHS averages 46,000 patient visits per academic year. A department within the Division of Student Life, SHS provides support to students and campus stakeholders to enhance the development of personal and social responsibility and to foster safe, healthy, inclusive, and supportive communities at UD. SHS partners with students and staff to develop vibrant inclusive environments which encourage student success and engagement, a culture of care for all members, values-congruent decision-making, and the cultivation of skills and knowledge so students may become citizens and leaders in our increasingly global society. As a member of the Student Life wellbeing team, SHS engages with all aspects of the University community to engender a campus environment that supports health and wellness and creates a foundation for life-long wellbeing by providing Blue Hens with the services, care, and skills to make healthy choices.
