In November 2013, the city of Miami was awarded an expansion franchise by the NFL. Strasmore, along with a team of investors, began building the organization the following year. In 2015 the organization announced its official name, the “Miami Vice”.
On April 30, 2015 David Johnson (Northern Iowa University) became the first player in the organization’s history, when the Miami Vice selected him in the first round. In March of 2015, the Miami Vice joined the National Football League’s NFC East division and will begin writing their history on the field in 2016, the inaugural season.
