Silent Auction of Signed, Game-Worn Jerseys Benefitting Breast Cancer Research
After each Miami Vice game in October, Vice stars autographed their game-worn jerseys to be auctioned off to the public. In honor of October being breast cancer awareness month, all proceeds from the silent auction went towards benefitting breast cancer research. Miami Vice stars Russell Wilson, David Johnson, and A.J. Green were among the players to participate. The month-long silent auction raised over $60,000 for breast cancer research. The Miami Vice hope to make this silent auction an annual event to help in the fight against breast cancer.
Dez Bryant’s Walk Against Alzheimer’s
Dez Bryant and some of his Miami Vice teammates joined the Miami community in a walk against Alzheimer’s. Local companies donated to the walk and individual participants raised money for the cause as well. The walk generated awareness for Alzheimer’s as the Miami community walked hand-in-hand with Miami Vice players. On top of the increased awareness, the walk raised just over $250,000 for Alzheimer’s research. As an annual event, the Miami Vice hope to exceed this year’s total in 2017.
Miami Vice Golf Outing Supporting the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
Miami Vice players and coaches will be at TPC Sawgrass on February 17th, 2017 for a golf outing to raise money for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Formerly Miami Children’s Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s is making great strides in pediatric medicine. Eli Manning, Russell Wilson, and others will be there to golf and interact with Vice fans. Money raised will allow Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to continue their great research so we encourage you to come out and participate.
Russell Wilson and Teammates Visit Children’s Hospital
Known for the plays he makes on the field, Russell Wilson’s most meaningful work is done off the field. Wilson makes weekly visits to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to interact with children that are fighting different diseases or illnesses. Russell Wilson often brings teammates along with him to try and put a smile on a child’s face and brighten his or her day. The Miami Vice take our presence in the community very seriously and we love to see stars like Wilson out making an impact.
JJ Watt Visits Children’s Hospital for a Halloween Treat
Although an injury has kept JJ Watt off the field for the Miami Vice, he is staying involved in the Miami community. Watt stopped by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital dressed as Batman, taking pictures with patients. Holidays are always tough times for patients at Nicklaus. The sick children are not able to dress up and go trick-or-treating with their friends. Watt put smiles on the children’s faces, along with the hospital staff dressed in a movie-quality Batman outfit. What makes the Miami Vice team so great is the impact they make in the community. No matter what happens on Sundays, the Vice players can make Miami smile.
