A little bit of rain wasn’t going to stop Delaware’s track team from picking up where they left off.  A top 10 finish for the Blue Hens in the ECAC Championship. The first time in program history the indoor and outdoor track teams finished top 10 in the ECAC Championship.

The Blue Hens had a few key standouts from the weekend. Senior Ashley Bailey took home the silver in the pole vault with a jump of 13’ 1”. Ashley has been a consistent member of the Track and Field team and we wish her the best.

Susanna Weir broke the program record in the steeples event. Weir finished with a time of 10:41.37.

“I’m very proud of Susanna. She has come a very long way in training and with her performance this season.” Said coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith.

All the Blue Hens have worked hard this year in practices. Their training was for the end of the season, and they have performed well.

In the triple jump sophomore Halimah Roberson finished second. Her jump of 39’ 10 ½” was good enough to give her a silver medal.

Delaware had 2 fourth place finishes in the relay events. In the 4×100 the team of Rochester, Pinkney, Leaks and Scott finished in fourth. And the team of Meyer, Capparell, Stovall and Harding finished fourth in the 4×800 event.

“Coming off the CAA championship we knew legs and arms would be a little fatigued going into the ECAC Championship. Our goal was to achieve a top 10 team finish and we did that.” Wendy McFarlane-Smith said on their goal going into the ECAC Championship.

Delaware is waiting on the NCAA preliminaries list which will be released tonight.
