All good things must come to an end. For the remaining three track and field members, their season has come to a close.

Senior Ashley Bailey had a successful career while at UD. Bailey finished her time at Delaware with 27 career victories, all while breaking two school records. On Friday her Blue Hen career ended. Bailey will become the first college graduate in her family. Bailey’s focus from the start of her for years at Delaware was to be a role model.

“I wanted to be a good role model for my nephew.” said Bailey. She will be graduating with a degree in Exercise Science at the end of the month.

Sophomore Myrissa McFolling-Young showed everyone at the NCAA East prelims that she belongs there. Finishing 43rd overall in the discus throw, McFolling-Young showed she is there to stay. Myrissa became the youngest thrower in Blue Hens history and the third ever thrower to make the NCAA East prelims.

McFolling-Young finished with a discus throw of 145’ 4” in the NCAA East prelims. Getting the opportunity helped teach Myrissa what’s needed from her to be back next year.

“This taught me how much I need to dedicate if I want to compete at the next stage. An experience like this makes me hungrier to come back next year.” Myrissa McFolling-Young said. Myrissa finished the season with seven wins, a bright future awaits her.

An end for a historic season for Junior Michaela Meyer. Shattering the Blue Hens record for the 800m. Before Meyer no Blue Hen had run under a 2:08, and Meyer did it twice. Thursday night was the second time Meyer ran under the 2:08 mark. While it wasn’t enough to advance her into the next round. Her performance gave her a 33rd place finish with a time of 2:07.87. Meyer is only the third  distance runner in Blue Hens history to reach the NCAA East prelims.

Assistant Coach Ryan Waite had this to say on Meyers performance all year “She always puts it out there and today was no different. This was a great year for her where she learned a lot, made a lot of progress and became hungrier to achieve even more next season”.

The end has come to a championship season, the Blue Hens will look to repeat as CAA champions next year on performances like these three competitors.
