DELAWARE STADIUM STANDS OUT IN UNIVERSITY REFURBISHING PROJECT

By Dylan Phillips

Newark, DE – As many changes to South College Avenue start to take course to construction – from the sparkling renovation of the STAR campus or the inclusion of incoming train station – the sinistral demolition of the Delaware Stadium is by far the most distinguishable.

The Delaware stadium had previously remained unaltered throughout the 1950s until its frequent expansion during the 70s.

But now as it stands, with its press box stripped and the entire west stands uncloaked and grounded, only a stare-stepped silhouette remains among open sky.

All of which is a part of a 60 million dollar project overall. With complete renovation of the west stands with club level suites, refined press boxes, luxury

chair backs, and expanded seating; the money will encompass not only the stadium itself, but the Whitney athletic center, and the many projects part of the University’s 2019 refurbishing operation.
