Women’s Ice Hockey advances to Championship

University of Delaware Women’s Ice Hockey upset the first-seeded Mercyhurst squad with a single goal victory of 1-0.
On March 16, the Blue Hens traveled to Johnstown, PA for the College Hockey East Women’s Division 2 playoffs. They took on the challenge of Mercyhurst University, the top seed in the tournament. In their regular season matchup on October 19, 2018, Mercyhurst won 5-4.
When it mattered most though, the Blue Hens triumphed, shutting down an offense that troubled them previously. Goalie Kendall Smythe pulled off a 30 save shut-out to keep Mercyhurst scoreless.
Kendall Dubin scored Delaware’s lone goal, allowing her team to advance to the CHE D2 Championship on Sunday. They’ll play the winner of Liberty vs. Buffalo.
