That’s what echoed from the outfield when freshman first baseman Brooke Glanden hit her third home run during practice on Wednesday.

Glanden is currently tied for first in hits and third in batting average for the team, having started all 18 games for the Blue Hens.

Wednesday’s practice showed just why Glanden was named CAA Rookie of the Week on March 5, after hitting three home runs during March 2’s Cavalier Classic.

Blue Hens varsity softball is coming off a rough season. Last season, the softball team was 18-31 overall and 8-13 in the CAA.

The year before, the softball team went 24-29 overall and 10-11 in conference play.

The last season the Blue Hens had a winning record was 2016, when they went 30-21 and 9-9 in conference play.\

Delaware softball has not been to the playoffs since 2017, and the team has not won a playoff game since the first game of the 2016 playoffs in an 8-2 win over Elon.

The softball team is currently 7-11 on the season heading into this Saturday’s home opener, but the team at Wednesday’s practice didn’t look like a team on a two-game losing streak. Bases were stolen and home runs were hit in abundance.

Delaware softball’s home opener is a double header on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m. against Mount Saint Mary’s University at the Delaware Softball Diamond.
