How does your intended major connect with your skill set and career goals?
This is a very important question. The last two weeks, we spent time exploring skill sets and career goals. During the Career Services presentation, we connected majors with goals. The following week, the Counseling Center helped us to interpret our “Strong Interest Inventory” to better understand our interests.
When employers hire candidates, they are looking for candidates whose skill sets, work values, and interests match the needs of their organizations. So you must ask yourself… What are your skill sets? Do they match your desired career goals? How can you further strengthen those skills? What are your weaknesses? How can you strengthen and/or compensate for those weaknesses? How will your intended major(s) and/or minor(s) further develop your skills?
Be honest with yourself and fully explore this question. In 300 words (minimum), write your response.
