Student Body President – Katherine Slough

About Katherine
Julia Hatoum is an honors Chemical Engineering major minoring in Chemistry, Materials Science Engineering, and Civil Engineering, and she is running for Student Body President!
She has served as a Student Affairs Senator, Public Relations Senator, Chief of Staff, and Vice President of University Affairs. In her current role as VP of UA, she heads the legislative branch of 27 senators and works with her team to translate student wants and needs into legislation. With such widespread SGA experience, she is confident she will help strengthen government and increase connectivity, communication, outreach, & transparency with the student body!
She will continue to prioritize campus issues and student interests, including accessibility, DEI, safety, sustainability, housing, dining, and academic success, which have already been reflected in her legislation. With the Executive Party, she will continue to catalyze positive change by representing, legislating, and advocating for you all!

Jonathan is a Sophomore from Bucks County, PA, double majoring in Political Science and English with a minor in History. Throughout his time with the Student Government Association, Jonathan has served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer within the same term. His leadership and experience within his roles have impacted the campus in a positive way. Jonathan has prioritized issues such as dining and safety concerns, which has reflected in his legislation through Student Government. Alongside his Student Government involvement, Jonathan is well-connected in various organizations such as the College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Council, Political Science Ambassadors, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. In terms of advocacy, he is extremely confident in building relationships and being transparent with the students at the University of Delaware. Vice President of University Affairs – Brianna Sherman-Blanding

About Brianna
Rayna Katz is running for Vice President of University Affairs as a member of the Blue and Gold Party with Chief Justice candidate Megan Kelly. During her last two years as a member of SGA she has served on the University Affairs branch as a Student Affairs Senator. In this position she has grown proficient in drafting resolutions that target students’ needs in an effective and successful manner, making her the perfect candidate for a leadership position. With an endorsement from Hillel, Rayna passed the Anti-Semitism Resolution which SGA formally adopted the IHRA definition of anti-semtism with hopes to make hate speech more recognizable. Similarly, she has addressed mental health issues on campus, passing The Mental Health Care Priority Initiative Resolution to increase the quantity of therapy sessions offered to our students. She also stands as formal representation to the LGBTQ+ student population and is dedicated to increasing the visibility of the community through targeting issues on campus.

Elliott is a junior from Elysburg, Pennsylvania, majoring in Public Policy with a minor in History. Throughout his time with the Student Government Association, Elliott has served as a motivated Public Relations Senator in the External Branch, and as the current Chief Justice, leading the Judicial branch. Elliott has worked on campus-wide initiatives, served on university task forces, and passed key legislation to support a variety of different issues on our campus. Elliott is running for Vice President of External Affairs with the Executive Party to continue the work he has already done to build communication efforts across the student body and to support conflict resolution among student issues. In addition, Elliott strongly advocates for mental health and sexual offense support resources on campus. With your vote, the Executive Party will continue to use our seats to help make the changes that students need.

Megan is a Sophomore from York, Pennsylvania, majoring in Elementary Teacher Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language. Megan has been a part of SGA for the past two years, serving as a Student Affairs Senator her freshman year and currently holding the position of Programming Senator. During her time in SGA, Megan has worked alongside University Affairs to create two resolutions for the expansion of Dining Hall and Meal Exchange Hours. She is an active voice for the student body and hopes to create a diverse and equitable University. Megan is running for Chief Justice with the Blue and Gold party to promote DEI, mental health awareness, and anti-semitism on campus. She hopes to create an inclusive and collaborative environment for all students to be heard. Ria is a freshman from central NJ, majoring in honors pre-veterinary medicine with a minor in beverage management. This past year in the Student Government Association, Ria has served as the Academic Affairs Senator for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in hopes of improving the quality of student and academic life for her peers. Ria is rerunning for the position with the goal of ensuring that every student’s voice is heard and that their needs are addressed. She understands that college can be a stressful time for her peers and hopes to provide them with the resources needed to succeed academically and socially so that they can make the most out of their time at UD. Ria hopes to advocate for all students and speak up for those who don’t have the platform to.

Khadija, a sophomore from Sierra Leone, is a Political Science major with a concentration in Law, Politics, and Theory, and a Legal Studies minor. She is involved on campus as a Peer Mentor for the FYS classes. As a liaison between first-year students and faculty/staff, Khadija leads workshops on bystander awareness/intervention, alcohol awareness, and safe relationships. She also offers academic guidance by answering student questions in class and out and is an overall resource for students’ personal and educational queries. Khadija is passionate about making an impact and is running for the Academic Affairs Senator: Arts and Sciences position. She aims to advocate for academic policies, promote academic excellence, and contribute towards developing and implementing sustainable policies on campus. Khadija hopes to use her leadership skills to make a difference in her community and help create a more sustainable and inclusive campus environment.
