Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Campus Grant

In 2011, the University of Delaware and Delaware State University were, as a consortium, awarded a Violence Against Women Act Campus Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence and Stalking. The grant award for $498,138 funded employment of Prevention Specialists on both campuses, a part-time Dating Violence Counselor at Student Wellness & Health Promotion at UD, two statewide conferences, two law enforcement trainings, and other initiatives. Other outcomes from the grant included a subcommittee addressing special, underrepresented populations at UD like students with disabilities and international students, work toward a restraining order/protection from abuse order registration system, and expansive partnerships on both campuses across the institutions. In 2014, our consortium applied for and was granted another 3 years of funding in the amount of $580,000. The grant funding has concluded, and programs associated with the grant integrated into regular operating directives.
