Known Issue: Incomplete list of students enrolled by section in Roster and Gradebook 2

For course sites where multiple course sections have access, instructors or teaching assistants use the drop-down menu on top of their list of students in Gradebook 2 to filter the students by class section. Be aware that using this feature might only return a partial list of students.

Gradebook 2 uses the Roster tool to filter the students by section, but Roster doesn’t seem to sync properly and leaves certain students without a section assigned to them, even though they are assigned to a section when looking at the participants list in Site Info. This issue seems to resolve itself with time.

Here are two things to consider regarding this bug:

  1. Even though a student is missing section information in Roster or Gradebook 2, that student still has regular access to the Sakai site and can be assigned grades on assignments and quizzes.
  2. To detect if students are missing when filtering the list in Gradebook 2, compare the number of records shown versus your official enrollment in UDSIS. You can also check in Roster > Group Membership to see if any student has missing information next to their name.

Unfortunately, this issue cannot be resolved at this point but will be addressed during our next Sakai upgrade, once the Spring semester of 2016 is over.
