Recently, RGSO conducted a survey to understand the challenges faced by graduate students in their career paths. One of the key issues identified was the lack of hands-on experience and practical skills through projects. To help address this, RGSO is launching a Drone Project to provide students with a valuable learning experience.

This form is collecting interest from students who want to join the project. Based on responses, we will divide participants into three groups.

With the support of Dr. Chirikjian (Mechanical Engineering Department Head), we have acquired three drone kits for this initiative. The initial goal is to:
✅ Set up the drone from scratch
✅ Learn to use the Pixhawk flight controller with Raspberry Pi 3
✅ Develop control strategies for the drone

In the later stages, we plan to tackle specific problem statements, which will be decided by the groups or RGSO.

This is a semi-supervised project, meaning that while students will have the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace, Ph.D. students and experienced mentors will be available to guide and support the teams as per their availability.

This project is designed to be a continuous learning platform. Each semester, some students will graduate while new students join, ensuring ongoing collaboration and growth. Senior students will also have the opportunity to take on leadership and mentorship roles, fostering teamwork and knowledge-sharing.

If you’re interested, please fill out this form so we can organize the groups effectively. Let’s build and learn together! 🚀

Watch our robot dog take a walk! In this demo, we controlled Go1 to walk smoothly on the ground, showing off its balance and mobility. It’s like taking your robot pet for a stroll!

In this fun demo, we taught Go1 to copy the moves of a real dog! Go1 tries its best to act like its furry friend. Can you spot the differences?
