XSEDE HPC Workshops: UD Satellite Site 2020

XSEDE crosses over with the University of Delaware

UD satellite site approved for the following XSEDE HPC Workshops in 2020

All workshops will presented using the Wide Area Classroom (WAC) training platform and will be held at the University of Delaware 324 Willard Hall @ 11AM-5PM EST unless otherwise noted. Each workshop will be posted as an event on the UD Calendar and the Research Computing Calendar, and will link to this page for the most up to date information.

Workshop details will be updated when the registration links are made available approximately one month prior to each workshop. Registration is expected via XSEDE portal in order to provide accounts and appropriate HPC resources for each attendee.

In addition,  XSEDE HPC workshops are gradually being made available on YouTube: XSEDETraining.

  • February 19-20: Big Data Analytics & Machine Learning
    This workshop will introduce scalable data analytics and machine learning. It is a two-day, hands-on workshop using Hadoop, Spark and TensorFlow. There are no prerequisites, although some familiarity with Python would be helpful.
  • March 3: GPU Programming Using OpenACC
    OpenACC is the accepted standard using compiler directives to allow quick development of GPU capable codes using standard languages and compilers. It has been used with great success to accelerate real applications within very short development periods. This workshop assumes knowledge of either C or Fortran programming. It will have a hands-on component using the Bridges computing platform at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.
  • April 7-8: Big Data Analytics & Machine Learning
    This workshop will introduce scalable data analytics and machine learning. It is a two-day, hands-on workshop using Hadoop, Spark and TensorFlow. There are no prerequisites, although some familiarity with Python would be helpful.
  • May 5-6: MPI
    This workshop is intended to give C and Fortran programmers a hands-on introduction to MPI programming. Both days are compact, to accommodate multiple time zones, but packed with useful information and lab exercises. Attendees will leave with a working knowledge of how to write scalable codes using MPI – the standard programming tool of scalable parallel computing.
  • June 2-5: Summer Boot Camp
    This 4-day event will include MPI, OpenMP, OpenACC and accelerators. The workshop will conclude with a special hybrid exercise contest that will challenge the students to apply their skills over the following 3 weeks and be awarded the Annual XSEDE Summer Boot Camp Championship Trophy. In addition, an XSEDE Badge will be available to those who complete the Challenge.
  • September 1-2: MPI

    Due to COVID-19, the format of this XSEDE HPC Workshop will be delivered as a Webcast not Wide Area Classroom (WAC) in person satellite location at the University of Delaware. As a result, there is only one large registration link not a specific registration link for the University of Delaware. This session will be available via Zoom direct to student desktops only. When the registration has filled, there will be no more students added due to our current limits. There will be no late registration for this event, so please do not ask to be added.
