E-52 Student Theatre Presents A Doll’s House

Come out and see the E-52, the original University of Delaware’s theatre group, present the classic play A Doll’s House. Originally set in 19th century Norway, Ibsen explores one woman’s attempt to articulate and embrace her needs and desires. Now re-imagined in the 1950s, Thorton Wilder’s translation will explore the quintessential nuclear family, and the societal norms so strongly reinforced. Thorwald and Nora Helmer are living the American dream, when Helmer’s new promotion at the bank leaves the family vulnerable to blackmail. As Nora experiences a realization of her situation, she decides to extinguish the oppressing gender roles that have been constricting her for years.
