To request a user account, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student, post-doc, faculty member, or visiting scientist at the University of Delaware. As a graduate student or post-doc, you may use our automated NMR spectrometers including the Neo400 (045 BRL), Neo400 (Star Campus), AVIII600 (049 BRL), and Neo600 (049 BRL) after completing Level 1 training. For undergraduates, authorization from your advisor must be sent to Dr. Bai (bais@udel.edu) before access to the AVIII600 and Neo600 is granted.

Setting up an iLab Account

  1. Go to https://udel.ilabsolutions.com/account/login
  2. In the upper right corner, you will see a “Register” button. Click or hover your mouse over the Register button, then select the left option “Register using UDEL credentials.”
  3. Sign in with your UD ID and password.
  4. On the Account Registration page, select your PI/Lab and verify your contact information.
  5. Your PI will receive a notification of your request to join their group in iLab. Your advisor or department business administrator will need to approve your membership and assign a funding code for your NMR Center usage.

Requesting Training Through iLab

  1. Log into your iLab account. To connect directly to the NMR Center follow this link: https://udel.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4622. Otherwise once you are logged into your iLab account, click the menu button in the upper left corner, click on “Core Facilities” and then select the NMR Core from the table.
  2. Click on the “Request Services” tab. In the “Training Request for Neo400 and AVIII600 (automation)” row click the “Initiate request” button.
  3. Provide your name and research group, then proceed to the next page, filling out all necessary information to the best of your knowledge. Click the “Submit request to researcher” button at the bottom right of the page.
  4. When a group of several trainees is formed, you will be contacted to schedule a training session. During this training session (Level 1) you will meet with an NMR staff member in 045 BRL to learn about NMR laboratory safety, sample preparation and handing, experiment selection, job submission, data processing etc.
  5. Your user name and password will be distributed at the end of your training session.

Additional training is required to access the manual AVIII400 NMR spectrometer. Contact Dr. Bai (bais@udel.edu) for details. Users interested in solid state NMR training and service should contact Dr. Quinn (cmquinn@udel.edu).

Additional Information

  1. Upon completing the training course (Level 1), you will be granted access to the NMR lab (045 and 049 BRL) using your UD student/employee ID card. Your login information can be found in the PDF associated with your service request for training in iLab.
  2. You are solely responsible for your user account information, and only you are allowed to use your account to submit NMR samples and access data. Unauthorized use of your account by others will result in the revocation of your user privileges.
  3. You must remove samples from the autosampler within 24 hours of receiving automated email notification that your data is ready. Samples will be removed from the carousel without notification. The NMR Center is not responsible for lost or damaged samples.
  4. NMR data acquired on the automated spectrometers will be automatically transferred and backed up to the NMR server upon completion of data acquisition. To access your NMR data, use an SFTP tool along with your user name and password. You can download SFTP software from the University software deployment website: http://udeploy.udel.edu/software-categories/networking-and-sftp. The NMR data server is nmrserver.chem.udel.edu, with in IP address of 128.175.54.56. See Data Transfer and Backup for more information on accessing your data.
  5. For NMR software for data processing and analysis, visit http://mestrelab.com/download/mnova/ and download MNova NMR software (version 14.1.1). Then go to https://udeploy.udel.edu/software-categories/scientific/ to obtain an MNova License File.
  6. See this link for details on reserving the AVIII400 manual NMR spectrometer in iLab.
