Working with the same topic for my blog and my research paper allowed me to really learn anything and everything about Seasonal Affective Disorder. As a result of this extensive research, I was able to to develop a lot of new ideas which led to me find the topic for my research paper. This progression and evolution of my research taught me a lot of great lessons specifically to not ever get discouraged or give up right away.

Blog:

1) My understanding of my blog topic evolved greatly through the process of my blogging. My first blog was very general, simply discussing how I believed weather had an affective on a persons mood based off of my experiences and the people around me. It was until the second or third blog after I researched my thoughts when i discovered that there was an actual disorder that explained this, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). After I found out this correlation actually existed, I learned so much more about how and why weather affects mood, and how serious and complex SAD is.

2) The majority of the elements from my blog were used in my research essay, including my live blog on light therapy, and also the background on SAD and how this indeed is a real disorder, despite of what it seems.I thought it was necessary to include a lot of the more general information about SAD from my blogs because it can get confusing fairly easily. I decided to use this topic for my research paper because it is unique and complex and sparked a lot of interest to me.  After blogging about it, I felt that there was still so much to be learned about the topic, and therefore continued my research.

3) One of my major concerns was my counterargument. I was having difficulty finding one, without really throwing off my entire essay and confusing the reader, or begin to disagree with my argument. After we completed our peer review my concern lessened significantly. Palina and Christina really helped me with my issue and proposed ways that I can use this counterargument to my advantage, and prove my point even further.

4) One of the biggest changes I saw within my writing was the organization of my thoughts in my paragraphs. A lot of times I would get too ahead of myself and when my thoughts got onto paper, it would come off confusing and disorganized. After really focusing on my topic sentences, that helped me organize my thoughts and write clear concise sentences. I also learned to divide up my thoughts into sensible paragraphs, which overall helped me significantly with organizing my thoughts and forming a clear, solid argument.
