Christina Henríquez

Henríquez was born and raised in Delaware. Her father is an immigrant from Panamá and her mother is from New Jersey. Henríquez spent many of her summers in Panamá despite not speaking Spanish and learned a great deal about the importance of the culture. She graduated from Northwestern University in 1999 with a degree in English and is a graduate of the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her debut novel, The World in Half, was published in 2009, and her novel The Book of Unknown Americans was released in 2014. The Book of Unknown Americans was recognized as a New York Times Notable Book and was longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Excellence in Fiction. She lives with her family in Chicago and has been known to never miss a deadline.
