About the Author

Jean Kwok

Jeak Kwok is a New York Times and International best selling author. Her work has been published in 18 different languages and taught in different types of schools all over the world. She is trilingual, speaking Dutch, Chinese, and English. She currently lives in the Neatherlands with her husband and two sons.

Her life closely mimics that of the main character’s in Girl In Translation. Jean Kwok emigrated from Hong Kong to Brooklyn. She worked in a clothing factory in Chinatown for much of her young life, and lived in an unheated apartment that was infested with roaches. She was incredibly smart, and along with all of her family’s money was taken away from her when her family moved to the United States.
