You may know some of our undergraduate sisters or perhaps you are here to learn a bit about LTA. Either way, we are happy you’re here! Now, we get a ton of questions from ladies who do not know much about Greek life or perhaps are looking to find out more about LTA as whole. Here are some fast facts.
- Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was THE FIRST LATINA greek letter organization in the nation.
- We were founded as an academic sorority in 1975 at Kean University by 17 Founding Mothers.
- Our Principles are Unity, Love & Respect.
- Our colors are Burgundy and Grey.
- La Palma, la concha, la luna, and la perla are the official symbols of Lambda Theta Alpha.
- Our national philanthropy is St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
- Members are often referred to as Lambda Ladies or LTAs.
- LTA is sometimes represented by the Universal Woman or the Lady on the Moon.
- We are a non-stepping organization but we do perform strolls and salutes.
- We are a diverse organization that welcomes ladies of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.

- We are part of Pennsylvania Area One which includes the following schools:
- Alpa Nu Alumnae Chapter
- Pi Chapter – West Chester University
- Beta Epsilon Chapter – Temple University, University of Pennsylvania
- Beta Lambda Chapter – Penn State University
- Delta Pi Chapter – University of Delaware
- Delta Upsilon Chapter – Lehigh University
- Epsilon Eta Chapter – Villanova University
- We have 5 Founding Sisters who are still very much involved.
- We were founded Fall 2007.
- We are 1 of 3 Greek letter organizations on UD campus that Latin in tradition, but as we say – NOT by definition.
- Our sisters cultural backgrounds are extremely diverse!
- Our professions and field of study vary greatly as well. We are a well-oiled, super networking team with a wide array of talents and interests.
