2021 Delaware 4-H Indoor Archery Championship
Thanks to the efforts of Eddie Sparpaglione, 4-H Volunteer Leader of the Lower Delaware Archers 4-H Club, the Delaware 4-H Program was recently able to work with USA Archery to host the first sanctioned Delaware State Indoor Archery Championship and Delaware JOAD State Indoor Archery Championship in conjunction while also serving as a USA Archery 52nd Indoor National Championship and the 2021 USA Archery JOAD National Championship site. This took a great deal of work on Eddie’s part to bring these events to Delaware and we appreciate his efforts in helping to provide these opportunities to our 4-H youth.
31 Delaware 4-H members registered for the 4-H Indoor Championship event and 27 youth participated in one of the four different scheduled 4-H group shoots. Results of the event are listed below, and we congratulate each of the 4-H youth on their personal accomplishments at this event. The event was held at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in the Dover Building and was organized and coordinated by the Lower Delaware Archers 4-H Club. We appreciate the efforts of other volunteers that included Elliott Rice, James Osborne, Gary Utley, Lesley Eichten and Kristen Osborne and Beth Sparpaglione who played a huge part in the set-up, oversight and clean-up for this event. They were joined by several other volunteers from the Archers 4-H Club who filled various volunteer needs over the weekend for the 3-day event.
12 Delaware 4-H members also participated in one or both of the USA Archery or JOAD Archery events. One 4-H member, Abby Sparpaglione, posted 2nd Place National Scores in both events and several other 4-H members earned medals in these events. Another highlight of the weekend also included having a future member of the USA Olympic Team participate in the USA Archery competition. There were also many compliments received from participants involved in the different competitions about the outstanding venue and organization of the event. The entire event went extremely well, and we are very thankful for all the work and efforts by everyone that was involved.
