Great Pumpkin Day – October 26, 2025
Kent County 4-H is excited to host Great Pumpkin Day on Sunday, October 26, at the New Castle Building, Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, DE.
This annual favorite will feature decorated pumpkins, festive wreaths, a costume contest, games, activities led by Kent County Junior Council members, light refreshments, and plenty of fall fun!

Event Schedule

Entry Drop-Off: Begins at 1:45 PM

Entries in Place By: 2:00 PM

Judging Begins: Promptly at 2:00 PM
Light refreshments will be provided by Kent County Leaders. Great Pumpkin Day is open to all active Kent County 4-H members. Following the contest, clubs are encouraged to take part in a community service project by placing pumpkins around town to spread the 4-H spirit.
Contest Categories
Members may submit up to two entries per category. The entry form is attached or will be available to fill out at the event.

Best Painted Pumpkin – Paint only (no additional materials or accessories)

Best Carved Pumpkin – Carved at home, brought to the contest completed (no paint)

Best 4-H Theme Pumpkin – Any materials or paint allowed, must reflect a 4-H theme

Other Pumpkin Category – Any design or theme not covered above

Artificial Pumpkin – Decorated with paint, carving, or other materials

Gourds – This category is only for decorated gourds

Wreath, Swag, or Wall Hanging – Halloween or fall-themed, any media permitted
Costume Contest
Costumes may be entered individually or as a group (two or more youth in the same age division). If the group includes mixed ages, the entry will be judged based on the oldest member.
Age Divisions (4-H Age as of January 1, 2026):

Cloverbud: 5–7

Beginner: 8–10

Junior: 11–13

Senior: 14–19
