Kent County Jr. Council held its eighth meeting of the year on May 24th. We started by reviewing old business. We then went over upcoming events, including the make-up demonstration contest (June 2), State Teen Council applications due June 30th, the DSF Jr Exhibitor Scholarship due June 3, and more. We want to remind everyone that fair entries are open, and Fair Host/Hostess sign-up is now open! At the end of our meeting, Corey Hester announced the winners of Jr. Council’s sock activity. We encourage more people to come and join us next year!

Past Events
We have finally got our response back about our litter barrel, and the Westville 4-H club got 1st place! Congratulations everyone! Our club put a lot of thought and dedication into this contest, so we are very proud of our members. Horse bowl was also 4/15 – 4/24, and it was virtual. We had a few members participate in that, and they enjoyed themselves. Horticulture judging and wildlife judging were on the 27th, and some members also participated in that as well. Once again, we hope all had fun and enjoyed their time being able to judge those resources.

New Events
May was a very eventful month! Since the fair is right around the corner us kids and adults have a lot of work and other things to do. On May 15th, there were tagging availabilities down at the Delaware State Fairgrounds. Many of our members went and tagged our animals for the fair and can officially say that animals are closer and closer to being ready for the fair. This past weekend was the Jackpot show and the Kent County Livestock show. Many of our members participated so we could get the practice in, and we all enjoyed getting back into the groove of things. The Horse judging contest was also on the 22nd, and if I remember correctly, we have a few members that also participated in that. Good luck to those who participated; we hope you all had fun.  Well, that’s just a little taste of what 4-H had going on in the Month of May, and so you’ll hear from me again next month.

Midstate 4-H Club
Secretary: Sydney Hall
This month’s meeting was called to order by our President – Bryan who then officially started the meeting. Mason and Jaxen lead the pledges. Secretary – Sydney did not do roll call but noted all in attendance. Next, our 4-H club leader went over old news and discussed important upcoming dates and events. After this discussion, Bryan made a motion to adjourn the formal meeting. Both Riley and Sydney seconded the motion. After the formal meeting was over club members broke out into several activities – jewelry making, flip-flop decorating, table setting display, electronic game board, woodworking, and pillowcase tie-dye. We did all these activities to prepare for the State Fair.  We got a lot accomplished today.
