“The Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Hokusai

At the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering, we have researchers who study many forms of alternative energy sources. One source of energy that is being examined is the conversion of the energy created by tides and waves into electrical power.
Using the boats as an idea of scale, how high would you estimate the wave to be? How wide? If we know the dimensions of waves, is it possible to determine how much potential kinetic energy there is that can be converted to electrical energy?
How might you start thinking about this problem?
