Overview

Ensuring proper healing on a wound after major surgery or injury is one of the essential aspects of patient care that needs to be considered by a doctor. The characteristics that define the progress of wound healing are the size, shape, and color of the wound. The smaller the size of the wound the closer it is to healing. A fresh wound is usually bright red and starts turning brown as it gets closer to healing, but if the wound color is black or green, then it means that the wound is not healing properly. Additionally, the wound might not be monochromatic but have a mixture of colors in different proportions which signifies that wound healing is a complicated process and undergoes various stages.

Hello, we are Team HMD, and we have created WoundCare, a smartphone application that will be used by the patient or by the healthcare professional to capture an image of the wound. Depending on the hardware and processing power of the device, a preliminary image analysis will be performed on the device. The image data will then be sent to a backend for storage and further in-depth analysis. The results of this analysis as well progress of the wound healing can be viewed in a web frontend by both the doctor and the patient.
