Analyzing the Interconnections Between Land Tenure, Diet Diversity and Climate Adaptation in Oyo State, Nigeria
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, underpinning food security and livelihoods for millions. As climate change intensifies, understanding its impacts on crop production is crucial for safeguarding food security. This research explores the link between land tenure, diet diversity and climate adaptation strategies in Oyo State, Nigeria. This work combines survey data with statistical methods to explain those connections and set the foundation to advise policy makers in implementing programs aimed at empowering smallholder farmers. Moreover, we utilize remote sensing methods using GoPro data and satellite imagery to monitor crops and spatial patterns that can help us better understand how crops adapt to the changing climate.Hanan Abou Ali, PhD candidate, University of Delaware

Hanan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geography and Spatial Sciences at the University of Delaware. Her research is focused on using remote sensing and statistical modeling for crop mapping and studying food security and sustainable agriculture in rural livelihoods and smallholder farms. Hanan is a DENIN Environmental Fellow and a Data Science Institute Fellow at UD. She has a BS in Surveying Engineering from the Lebanese International University and a MS in Geographic Information Science from Idaho State University funded through the Fulbright scholarship program.
