Mandela Washington Fellowship

at the University of Delaware

The Fellowship from their point of view.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with support from IREX. Founded in 2014, the fellowship invests in the next generation of African leaders, provides them with skills to take their work to the next level and deepens connections between the U.S. and Africa. The University of Delaware is proud to have hosted a Civic Leadership Institute each summer since the program’s inception in 2014.

Follow along here as our 2019 Fellows tell the story of their time at the University of Delaware. Navigate through the blog by home country or by scrolling to the bottom of the page to view a list of most recent posts.

Those interested are also invited to engage @UDGlobal on Instagram and Twitter and by using the hashtags #UDMWF and #YALI2019. A special social media campaign, #UDGlobalSummer, allows you to meet the participants in all four U.S. Department of State programs hosted by UD and facilitated by the Institute for Global Studies this summer.
