After nearly a week in the city of Granada, one thing I have come to realize is that there is history all around us. The United States has history to a certain extent, but it was part of the “New World,” meaning there is nothing as old as the structures we see here. Through the tours, I have come to learn the history behind the things here in the city. It is fascinating to understand how the city changed so much at the same time the Americas were discovered. So much was changing in that time, and yet there is still so much beauty left behind. Understanding the past and where we as people came from is important in understanding where we are headed in the future. I look forward to learning about and seeing much more history as the trip goes on. Below is a nice view of Alhambra, a palace from when the Moors were in control of the city. The fact that it still stands is amazing, and it is a beautiful piece of architecture.
