Student Assistantship – Education / Museum Education

The Museum of Political Corruption — a nonprofit, nonpartisan virtual museum based in Albany, NY — is seeking a motivated and creative Student Assistant to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to design engaging curriculum and lead interactive virtual tours, helping middle and high school students connect with our mission of civic education and ethical governance.

Eligibility: Upper-class undergraduate students or graduate students (majors in education, history, political science, museum studies, or related fields preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum and lesson plans aligned with middle and high school learning standards.
  • Lead virtual museum tours for school groups, fostering interactive discussions and critical thinking.
  • Adapt museum content to be age-appropriate and engaging for diverse student audiences.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to create supplemental educational materials (worksheets, activities, online resources).
  • Assist in evaluating educational programs and collecting teacher/student feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience or coursework in education, teaching, or museum programming preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt content for different learning levels.
  • Interest in civic education, history, politics, or museum work.

Compensation time commitment: This is an unpaid assistantship that requires 2-3 hours per week. The assistantship offers valuable experience and networking opportunities and may be eligible for academic credit depending on your institution’s policies. Graduate students will be invited to participate as Associate Board members of the Museum.

Location: Remote.
