Virtual Conference Overview
Our Goal is to ensure that our virtual conference matches the same level of dedication and professionalism found at each of our in-person conferences.
HenMUN IX will be conducted over Zoom, with certain specalized agencies simultaneously running a program called Master of Disaster, to help organize committee crises. We picked zoom because of its near universal familiarity and ease of functionality, as well as Master of Disaster to help recreate the crisis experience.
Delegates and Advisors should expect:
- Dynamic General Assembly, EcoSoc, and Specialized Agency committees
- Unlimited and customizable breakout rooms for unmoderated Caucus time (delegates can select into their own rooms to coordinate with each other, just like if they were in person.)
- All other features of traditional Parliamentary Procedure (so study up!)
- Virtual Crisis that can be visually represented through software provided by our partnership with Master of Disaster. (Delegates participating in a crisis committee will not need to download any additional programs, it’s entirely web-based software.)
Virtual Committee Session:
- Conducted over Zoom. Please ensure you have the most updated version (At least 3.5) or else you will experience complications during Unmoderated Caucus time.
- Every zoom session will be moderated by HenMUN staff. Each session will also be recorded and recordings will be made available upon request.
- All of the zoom sessions will be password protected and only accessible to authenticated users. Passwords will be sent out via email in the days leading up to the conference.
- Admin staff will be on standby the entire duration of the conference to troubleshoot technical issues where needed.
Virtual Extra-Committee Sessions
- At HenMUN we have always offered activities outside our committee sessions, such as our Ice Cream Socials, Advisor 1:1 Time, and Delegate Dances. This year we will offer virtual social experiences, such as Q&A’s breakouts with HenMUN staff, ask me anything chats with UD college students, or even some form of a videogame tournament. These activities are not yet set in stone and will be made clear in our final schedule the week of the conference.
- We understand that Zoom fatigue is real for many students and teachers, so this year we will not require attendance to activities outside of the zoom sessions. This is all entirely for those that want to participate.
Opening/Closing Ceremonies and Awards
- We are prerecording our opening ceremony and live streaming portions of our closing. We will have a guest speaker for our opening ceremony, and will feature other familiar content.
- We will offer awards this conference! However, because the conference is virtual, the awards will take some time to get delivered. If you’re awarded a certificate or a gavel, we will contact you after closing ceremony with requests for a mailing address, and with a timeframe for when we can ship the prize to you.
