We work to advance this vision through effective community partnerships and by strengthening the University’s capacity for community-engaged scholarship.
What is a healthy community?
A healthy community goes beyond quality medical care and is reflected in the social and environmental factors that promote well-being. It is a place where all are free from discrimination and oppression, and there is equitable access to the resources needed for optimal health.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE
The Partnership for Healthy Communities (PHC) is one of several partnerships of the Community Engagement Initiative (CEI).
The Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) was launched in 2015, when the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching designated UD as a community engaged university. CEI is charged with prime responsibility for carrying out the University of Delaware Civic Action Plan, the University’s strategic vision for community engagement.
