From January 5-9, the Transportation Research Board‘s (TRB) 2025 Annual Meeting took place despite the cold and snow, which seems to be more common now during TRB meetings! I co-moderated a workshop with Sreenivas Alampalli, PhD from Stantec on Advances in Seismic Research and Practices for Safe and Secure Bridges. The workshop focused on the damage caused by earthquakes and other extreme events globally and what different agencies are doing to address them. The 3-hour workshop was sponsored by the Standing Committee on Bridge and Structures Management (AKT50), International Coordinating Council (A0020C), Standing Committee on Testing and Evaluation of Transportation Structures (AKB40), Standing Committee on Bridge and Structures Management (AKT50), Subcommittee on Safety and Security of Bridges and Structures (AKT50(1)), and Standing Committee on Bridge Preservation (AKT60).

It’s always exciting to reconnect with my transportation colleagues while at TRB. With more than 10,000 attendees annually, this is one of the conferences that I look forward to every year. I learn so many new things and make new connections each time.
