Italy: Using Public Transportation

Submitted by Katelynn Lavin on the 2020 spring semester study abroad program in Rome, Italy…

At this point in time, Rome is beginning to feel a lot like home and I can’t even imagine going home once the semester is finished. This weekend, we traveled to Milan and I had to navigate public transportation. At first, I was a little worried that I was going to get lost, but it ended up being really easy. Since I live near New York, I have used their public transportation before and thought public transportation would be completely different, but it was very similar. Also, on the train back to Rome, I sat next to a lady who didn’t speak English, only Italian, but we managed to have a good conversation using the Spanish I know. Overall, this weekend, I learned a lot and slowly can say I am becoming more independent in the sense that I can use public transportation on my own without help.
