Greece: Sad to Leave

Submitted by Camryn Garcia on the 2019 winter session program in Athens, Greece sponsored by the Department of English…

My last week of my study abroad experience was bittersweet. We traveled to Nafplio and Olympia and saw the site of the ancient Olympic games. This week was very exhausting due to the long travel days and the winding mountainous roads. We got to see many archaeological sites and museums. On our second to last day, we visited the Island of Aegina which is known for their famous pistachios. Aegina was beautiful and it made me very sad because it was the last official site we were visiting. We had our last class meeting where we discussed which gods and goddesses each of us represented and had our farewell dinner at the same taverna we ate at the first night. My time in Greece has truly impacted me and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
