This past week after class, two of my friends and I decided to get some lunch. We have all been talking about fondue since we got to Paris, and my one friend said there was a really good fondue place around the corner from where she lives. She even saw a sign outside that morning that said “Fondant Chocolat,” thinking that meant their chocolate fondue was a special for the day. We decided to trek to the café, which is about a 35 minute métro ride from school. We arrived at the café, and before we sat down we decided to look at the menu, thinking we were going to see all sorts of fondue options. We didn’t see anything of the sort, but we still saw the sign outside for “Fondue Chocolat.” We sat down, and ordered one from the waitress. She starts giggling a little, and says that one wouldn’t be enough for 3 people, so we ordered 2 just to be safe. (We’re all thinking 2 pots of chocolate fondue is going to be A LOT for lunch.) About ten minutes later, the waitress comes back….with two slices of chocolate pie! FONDANT does not equal FONDUE in French! haha We couldn’t stop laughing. The pie was delicious..it just wasn’t fondue.
