We asked our members why they were involved in FSA and to write something that stands out to them, or a little story or memory they have while being in FSA.
This is what some of them had to say.

Home. That’s a word that I would associate with FSA.
“Home. That’s a word that I would associate with FSA. Throughout my college experience, I have jumped between clubs dedicating hours to different events and many other things besides FSA. But it seemed that I would always find my way back to this group of completely amazing individuals that have the talent and intelligence that you cannot see elsewhere. FSA has been a place for me to connect with people that are finding themselves in their culture, their individuality, and this campus community. I look at all the friendships I’ve made within this group and you can see how close everyone is with each other. May you be a local or from out of state, we as a group have grown and become a family looking out for each other. While I am sad that this will be my last year to see these people almost every other day, sitting in the booths of Trabant or studying in the library, FSA will forever have a place in my heart. Mahal ko kayong lahat!”

FSA has made me more appreciative of my Vietnamese heritage because I see how proudly Filipino FSA’s members are.
“FSA is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I joined FSA because there’s no VSA, and I thought FSA was a good alternative. Funnily enough, joining FSA has made me more appreciative of my Vietnamese heritage because I see how proudly Filipino FSA’s members are. FSA has helped me make some of my best memories here at UD. It was through Culture Night that I fostered close relationships and became more confident in performing on stage. FSA has gotten me through a lot these past four years. Its members have given me a reason to smile on my worst days and laugh on my best days. I have never felt more loved.”

It’s amazing how a club like yours can feel so much like a family.
“My Dearest FSA,
What a wonderful group of people you are. It’s amazing how a club like yours can feel so much like a family. Although I was not the most active member or even Filipino, you welcomed me with open arms and still made me feel included. You host an amazing and necessary event which I performed in, Culture Night, to spotlight and appreciate the other cultural groups on campus. And I have to mention those shirts… tooo much sauce. I hope to become more involved this year and create stronger bonds with all your members.
Love,
Showvik 💖”

[FSA] is more than just another club to me; it is group of good people that mean family to me.
“When I came to my first FSA meeting as a freshman, I thought I would be out of place since I was not Filipino. I had second thoughts coming like “What if they don’t like me?” or “What if I am the odd guy out?”. It turned out to be the complete opposite of that. Many of the members were so friendly towards me and didn’t even care that I was different. When I look back at it, I am so glad that I joined FSA because it is more than just another club to me; it is a group of good people that mean family to me.”

Definitely my favorite memory I had while I’ve been in FSA.
“Last semester, Marco and Zendelle told me that they would take me to go get pho for my birthday after class. We were about to drive to the pho place, but Zendelle said he needed to get something from his friend in Perkins and told me to come with him. In Perkins, he led me to a room and told me to go in and he would follow. I thought Zendelle was trying to jump me because the room was pitch black and looked empty. When I went in people screamed ‘Surprise!’. My friends from FSA threw me a surprise birthday party and my family was even there too. Definitely my favorite memory I had while I’ve been in FSA.”
