COVID-19 Protocols and Logistical Details

Everyone ages 2+, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear masks indoors. Masks are also required outdoors when physical distancing is not possible. As of Sept. 10, the University of Delaware also requires all external visitors to UD events to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the event’s start. The new policy applies to external visitors ages 12+ at all UD events that are open to the public.

For Parents and Family Weekend, test results from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 will be acceptable proof for COVID-19 clearance. Proof of vaccination completed at least two weeks prior to Oct. 1 is also acceptable. For students, proof of accepted exemption to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for on-campus students is also acceptable.

We have organized two Centralized Check-Ins for Parents and Family Weekend where each member of your party, including your student, can have your COVID-19 clearance verified and receive a wristband for expedited entry to subsequent PFW activities. These details were emailed to families on Sept. 27 and can be found online here.

Visiting Residence Halls

Though the current guest policy only allows UD students in the residence halls, during Parents and Family weekend, parents and family members who are compliant with the PFW COVID safety requirements (as evidenced by a wristband or the results of their daily health screen and vaccination/test record) are permitted to visit the residence halls October 1-3. Parents and families will need to wear a mask while inside the residence halls. Please note, vaccinated students are not required to mask in certain areas of their residence hall community, but all guests—regardless of vaccination or testing status—must mask at all times in the residence halls.

Parking on campus will be free throughout Parents and Family Weekend. Parking maps can be found here. We recommend parking your vehicle near the bulk of your activities and traveling on foot when possible.
