Head’s Up re: Check-Out & Check-In Workstations

Hello Everyone,

Some of you may have noticed that our check-out and check-in workstations at the Film & Video service desk are undergoing some updates and slight changes that we hope will add up to improvements and smoother operations. The Library’s IT folks aren’t quite done with their work yet, but in the meanwhile we wanted to make you aware of an important change. When you check in an item that needs to be routed elsewhere (such as a VHS that belongs at the Annex) or which is due to be pulled for an instructor’s scheduled use (a ‘booking’), a routing or booking receipt no longer prints automatically. There are two things that you should keep an eye out for any time you are checking items in to make sure you don’t miss these important notifications.

(1) You will see a pair of small orange triangles to signify that there is something special that needs to be done to the item, whether it’s to be routed to another location (again, the Annex is the most common destination for materials we check in at F&V) or there’s an upcoming booking on the item. Pay attention to these and alert staff when you see them.

(2) A window will pop up with a receipt. Click on the print button, and bring the receipt and item to staff.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thank you,
Film & Video Staff
