To create a hyperlink to an artifact in your site (i.e. pdf, image, presentation, video), you will need to have the artifact’s Web address (URL). Where do you find the Web address? If the artifact is already located on the Web, (i.e. YouTube video), you will need to go to that location and get its current URL.

Attachments page in Manage SitesIf the artifact needs to be uploaded into your site,  click More, Manage Site, Attachments and Upload the artifact. If the artifact was uploaded on another page in the site, it will already be listed on the Attachments page (i.e., you uploaded a profile picture on your Welcome page).

Once the artifact has been uploaded, right-click the word View located to the right of the artifact. Select Copy Link Location. Depending on the browser you are using, the wording may be slightly different. You have just copied the Web address for your artifact.

Now go to the page in your site where you want to create the hyperlinked text. Edit the page. Highlight the text to be used for the link and click either the link icon in the editing toolbar or select Insert Link from the menu options.

You will be given a Create Link dialog box to complete. Select Web address on the left and paste the copied URL into the space marked: Link to this URL. If you want the artifact opened in a new window, make sure you have checked the box in front of this option. Select OK. If you have no further editing to complete, select Save.

Always check the hyperlinks you have created in your site to ensure that they are working properly.

Note: If your site has a page for resources that uses the File Cabinet page template, then any artifact uploaded on this page should also be found in your Attachments section. You can however, go to this page, and as stated above, right-click the View link next to the artifact and copy the link location from this page.
