MariaJose Riera is a go-to person at the ELI when there’s something that needs to be done. From her work with special programs, to her STEM expertise, to her curriculum development and recruitment, MariaJose is a vital member of the ELI team.

MariaJose has a background in architecture (BA in Architecture from Lehigh University and MArch from UCLA), making her a crucial contributor when the ELI develops STEM-focused special programs. She has also supported proposal development for special programs from the Middle East, such as AFAQ, SABIC, and KAUST, and special programs in South America such as O’Higgins Global Experience program and Proyecta 100,000.

You could say that MariaJose is a world traveler, as her recruitment efforts with the ELI have taken her to Spain, Italy, and many other countries throughout Central and South America. Yet, her international connections extend beyond work; MariaJose is a first-generation American with family roots in the Dominican Republic and Spain.
